Cut Spending and Balance the Budget
Reckless government spendin,g endangers our country’s financial stability while threatening the prosperity of future generations. With record deficits and almost $18 trillion of national debt, Congress still offers million dollar solutions to trillion dollar problems. As Congressman, John will tackle our out-of-control spending head on by pushing for a balanced budget amendment.
From the second President Obama forced through a 2,300 page law that no one read, Obamacare has proved to be government at its worst – intrusive, expensive and ineffective. John will fight to repeal this disastrous piece of legislation and put patients back in control of their own healthcare.
Border Security and Immigration
As U.S. Attorney, John arrested over 300 illegal immigrants on a single day. As a former terrorism prosecutor, he knows the threats an unsecured border can bring to our national security. In Congress, he’ll fight to lock down our borders and will continue to oppose amnesty for illegal immigrants.
The proud holder of a Texas Concealed Handgun License, John has spent much of his career defending the Constitution under the Second Amendment. In Congress, he will continue to fight for the right of individuals to lawfully own firearms. Recognizing his steadfast commitment to protecting our Second Amendment rights, the NRA has endorsed John and given him the highest possible rating for a non-incumbent.
Right to Life
John will always vote for the protection of unborn life and against taxpayer funding for abortion. National Right to Life has endorsed John saying, “This endorsement reflects your commitment to strengthening a culture of life throughout the nation and in the U.S. Congress.”
It’s time for an all-of-the-above energy policy which embraces our domestic resources, peels back the overreach of the EPA and approves the Keystone XL pipeline.
As mayor, John made a promise to never raise taxes. He kept that promise, refusing to raise taxes a single penny for eight straight years. In Congress, he will continue to oppose tax increases of any kind.
Free enterprise, not government intervention creates jobs. In Congress, John will fight to reduce the regulatory burden on businesses in order to stimulate lasting economic growth.
As mayor, John created a “Hometown Heroes” recognition program to honor soldiers returning from active duty. In Congress, supporting our soldiers in the field and veterans at home will continue to be one of his top priorities.
Amidst the turmoil in the Middle East stands Israel – a true friend to America and our best ally the region. The recent nuclear “treaty” President Obama and John Kerry negotiated with Iran highlights the erosion of our once unbreakable alliance with Israel. In Congress, John will call for a renewed American commitment to our trusted ally.
John has a strong belief that our Founding Fathers never intended for a permanent political class. In Congress, John will seek a Constitutional amendment that imposes term limits on both the House of Representatives and Senate.
