Rockwall, TX – After a busy week of events engaging with constituents across the 18 counties of the Fourth Congressional District, Congressman John Ratcliffe reflected that protecting religious freedom was an issue that came up time and time again as a priority for the 700,000 Texans he represents.
“Of course folks are concerned about ISIS, the economy, the overreach of the federal government, and the national debt,” said Ratcliffe. “But they also recognize that our First Freedom, religious freedom, is a key underpinning of the moral fabric of our society. These freedoms have been under assault by the far-left, and I share my constituents’ urgency in protecting them at all costs.”
In Congress, Ratcliffe is a co-sponsor of the First Amendment Defense Act – a bill which would prevent the federal government from discriminating against any individual or group, whether nonprofit or for-profit, on the basis of their beliefs that marriage is the union of a man and a woman.
He also voted yes on H.J. Res. 43 to prevent D.C. government from implementing the Reproductive Health and Nondiscrimination Act (RHNDA) which will force pro-life and religious advocacy organizations to make personnel decisions inconsistent with their sincerely held religious beliefs or moral convictions about the sanctity of human life and provide insurance coverage for surgical abortion.
